WPPI 2012: SURVIVAL GUIDE
Friday, February 17, 2012 So here it is. WPPI 2012. You ready for it?
With it being my third year I have learned a thing or two about this crazy and amazing experience thousands of photographers unite in the desert of Las Vegas for. Stick with me, kid, and you’ll get the hang of it.
Here are just a few of the NECESSITIES to survive the next few days. Trust me.
A few words of advice? Don’t get caught up in the “whose-who” of the industry while you are there. Get out of your comfort zone and meet people. No matter how hard it is on day three to wake up and get to that 8:00 AM class - do it. You won’t regret it. Thank the speakers after their class and let them know how much you enjoyed it. Smile - you get to be a photographer for a living.
And of course, I would love to see while I am there!! And yes, despite it being my third year and I can STILL be seen attending classes. You’re never too old to learn, right? A peek at my schedule for the next few days in Sin City:
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 19TH:
3:00 to 5:00 PM - Becker’s class, “The System” (save me a seat!)
P.S. See me and ask for an Earl & Layne button - trust me. Big things if we catch you wearing it!
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 20TH:
9:30 to 10:30 AM - The Earl to my Layne and I will be hanging out at the Starbuck’s cafe at the MGM chatting about design, answering any questions you may have, etc. Come and enjoy some chatter and coffee with us before heading off to classes!
11:00 to 12:00 PM - SHOWIT United Keynote
3:30 to 5:30 PM - The fabulous Elizabeth Messina’s class on “The Heart and Soul of Photography” (save me a seat!)

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 21ST:
NOTE: REMEMBER TO WEAR YOUR BUTTON AND GET CAUGHT BY US FOR SOMETHING AWESOME!
DOUBLE NOTE: Spot Earl or Layne and if you are one of the first three, you are going to get hooked up with an UH-MAY-ZING swag bag FULL of our favorite things!!
11:00 to 12:00 AM - SHOWIT United Keynote
1:00 to 1:30 PM - Earl and Layne will be doing a live design critique with SHOWIT in Conference Room D
3:30 to 4:15 PM - Earl and Layne will be taking part in a Q&A panel on about design insight and how to be unique held in Conference Room A…be sure and join us!
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 22ND:
2:30 to 4:30 PM - The absolutely adorable Justin & Mary Marantz’s class, “The Big Think” (save me a seat!)
Can’t wait to see you there! And the newest Layne addition will be there and making his appearances so be sure and say “hello” to the O-Pop.
Remember…what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!
