LINDSEY & PATRICK
Tuesday, June 1, 2010 Last year, I decided to give something away. I wasn’t sure what the reaction would be and I wasn’t sure about the responses I would get. But I ended up being blown away. Again and again. The entries that were sent in were touching, inspiring and humbling. I remember the moment I read Lindsey’s email…
She spoke of how they met and their journey together thus far. She spoke of their passions. Lindsey and Patrick are both involved with education and have done huge things for New Orleans and the educational reform movement. Their love and dedication for what they do is amazing. Their attitudes…contagious.
When Lindsey and Patrick were chosen as the winners of the giveaway, my heart sang. I was so happy I would be meeting the couple that had touched me so much already. May of 2010 could not come soon enough.
Fast forward to last weekend. I arrived in Madison, WI for what I thought would be a nice and lovely wedding. But it was so much more than that. So much more. Aside from a few emails and one Skype session, the three of us did not know one another. When I walked into The Great Dane Pub the night before the big day, I was welcomed by two people who hugged me as if I were family and who were more than I could have ever hoped for.
I woke up Saturday morning with nervous butterflies and was curious to see what they had planned for their big day. What better way to start off a wedding than with a little “JFK Style” football game?
Patrick and Lindsey…thank you. Thank you for reminding us what true love is. Thank you for showing us the amazing influence two people can have on others. You are fabulous in every way and it is evident that you have touched everyone around you in one way or another. Lindsey, thank you for emailing me last year. That email was a blessing because it allowed me the opportunity to know you and Patrick and I am so blessed for the chance. Thank you.

When I emailed you last year, I never thought that we were actually going to win. From that first email you sent congratulating us, I knew that we were going to get along wonderfully. I had NO IDEA how fantastic you were going to be in person and how easy it would be to work with you. Patrick and I could not stop talking about how professional and warm you were, and how easy you made it for us to share our day with you. Then when we saw the pictures, we were absolutely blown away. Thank you for giving us the kind of pictures we only dreamed of having.

I have never seen such creative ways to express a couple's love. I especially thought the shot of "the first view" of the bride in her wedding dress was so poignant. The detail is stunning!

Kara, I am amazed at how well you captured the essence of Patrick and Lindsey. It is as though you were a friend on their guest list. While I am a family member and know how wonderful this couple is, it is heartwarming to hear that while you were just getting to know them you also saw how special they are.
